“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.”
There is an often repeated African proverb that says, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." It is sometimes the case that when we are trying to work out problems in our life we try to carry the burden ourselves, fearful of how others might judge us. However, if you find yourself stuck, whether it is anxiety, anger, frustration, or fear, having someone to go to that place with you might help you learn something new about yourself. These new perspectives often give you the insight to make lasting meaningful changes in your life.
Counseling styles are quite varied from one provider to the next. Depending on the person and their goals, it may require deep introspection. For others, increased awareness of thoughts and feelings might be appropriate. Still others might best benefit from a systematic cognitive-behavioral strategy. I would genuinely enjoy the opportunity to meet and discuss the changes you are hoping to make.
The closeness of fit between you and your counselor is the most important part of therapeutic success. While I am a good fit for many potential clients, sometimes it is agreed upon that a different type of counselor would be a better match. In those instances I will work with you to find someone.
My training and experience has prepared me to work with adults of any age around issues of anxiety, anger, communication skills, depression, grief, trauma, stress, and general life dissatisfaction. Our sessions will balance safety in understanding and humor in acquiring new insight.
Give me a call today and we will find a time to discuss just how far you can go.
